On Saturday, Dec. 18th London Firefighters handed out toys and coats to approximately 33 children at the London Fire Department’s annual “Very Merry Firefighter Christmas”. The event is in partnership with the Laurel County Schools and East Bernstadt Independent Family Resource Youth Service Centers (FRYSC).
Student names were provided by the FRYSCs based upon need. Each child received a coat, winter gloves, and a toy of their preference. Santa Claus met the children at the city fire department to assist in delivering gifts. Dreama Wright of Cumberland Valley Area Development District assisted in providing car seats and booster seats to parents if needed.
“We look forward to this event each year and love to see how much joy it brings to these kids,” said London Fire Chief Carl Hacker.
Donations for the event are accepted year-round through londonkyfire.com/donate.
